An unusual oak jewellery box. It has 2 side compartments, 4 drawers and a secret compartment. I would think that it dates to the 1920's as it is a similar shape to gramophones of the period. It has a 3 doors. The front one opens to reveal 3 drawers. When the lower drawer is slid out, there is a lift up flap with secret compartment below. In one side compartment, there is a turned wooden post with what looks like a keyhole. There is something small which slides about when the box is moved but I do not know what it is or how to get at it.
There are 2 screw heads at the top of the rear panel and I do not know what these are for as they seem unnecessary - its a bit of a curiosity this box. 30cm x 30cm x 30cm and is a heavy thing. The item "An unusual jewellery box with secret compartment" is in sale since Friday, November 24, 2017.
