A antique Rosewood dressing case - jewellery box, complete with all original fittings. It retains all original mother of pearl handled instruments and both pairs of Edwards scissors, plus a travelling corkscrew and Samson Mordan pencil. It has a large compartment in its base with two secret drawers, which are revealed by removing a lift out tray. It has four cut glass bottles, situated at the back and two small jars, with silver plated covers (one with a hole in bottom).
It has a brass cartouche in the centre of its cover, engraved with initials MC. It measures 12" or 30.5 cm long x 8 1/2" or 21.5 cm wide x 6 or 152 mm high. It comes with a letter of provenance dated 1849 - A gift from a affectionate aunt. It comes complete with its original mirror and has a beautiful colour and grain pattern. Its previous owner has applied some blue coloured material to three of its covered compartment interiors, as shown in photo's.
